Realme has announced its most significant partnership to date—with RICOH Imaging Company LTD. This partnership will be formally launched on October 14th in Beijing. Realme and RICOH have been working on this partnership for nearly four years, and it will be first introduced on the Realme GT 8 Pro.
RICOH is known for its GR series cameras, especially for street photography. Realme's primary goal for this partnership is to improve mobile photography—specifically addressing two challenges Realme identified through its research: the hardware becoming too similar across devices and the loss of authenticity of photos due to excessive "processing."
This collaboration will take a special form for the GT 8 Pro—incorporating optical innovations, color algorithms, imaging tones, and a custom UI to bring the phone camera experience to a RICOH GR experience. The RICOH GR's 30-year heritage will include its film-like picture tones and five classic image tones.
Sample Photos and Tonal Features
Some leaked sample photos have already surfaced. These include RICOH's three main tone modes:
Positive Mode: Shows colors more expressively
Negative Mode: Creates a retro, soft, and muted look
High Contrast Black & White Mode: High contrast, reminiscent of Daido Moriyama's style
Furthermore, Realme has revealed that users can unlock custom color palettes, such as Ricoh Blue, Ricoh Green, etc., allowing you to customize the tones to suit your style.
This partnership creates a new bridge between camera and gaming—as the Realme GT 8 Pro already boasts powerful hardware, a screen, and other features. Hidden tricks are also included that will further enhance the RICOH GR experience.
