Samsung has silently added a new model to its Galaxy Book 5 series, the Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G. This is the first laptop in the series to feature built-in 5G support. It has been listed on the Samsung UK website, revealing its features and pricing. If you're looking for a laptop that can handle work, study, and travel, this model could be an interesting option.
Design and Display
The Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with an anti-glare coating. The screen is easy to view even during long periods of work, as there's minimal reflection. It's only 15.5 mm thick and weighs around 1.66 kg, making it easy to carry despite its large screen.
For audio, Samsung has provided Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, which enhance the movie and video call experience.
Performance and Hardware
The laptop is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) processor, paired with an Adreno GPU. It's paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS storage. This configuration is ideal for users who frequently perform tasks like multitasking, document browsing, or media editing.
Connectivity and Battery
As the name suggests, its biggest highlight is 5G Sub6 support. It also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB 4.0 ports, USB 3.2, HDMI 2.1 (4K@60Hz), a microSD slot, and a headphone/mic combo jack.
Speaking of battery, it packs a 61.2 Wh battery that supports 65 W USB-C superfast charging.
Price and Availability
Samsung has listed the Galaxy Book 5 Edge 5G for £949 (approximately ₹110,680). It's currently available only in Sapphire Blue and comes in a single 512GB variant. It's not yet clear when this model will be available in other countries, including India.
