Vivo has launched its new Y-series smartphone, the Vivo Y500 Pro 5G, in China. The phone was officially unveiled on November 10, 2025. It is said to be an upgrade to last year's Vivo Y300 Pro. The company has not yet confirmed its global and Indian launch dates, but it is expected to arrive in India by late December 2025 or January 2026. The Vivo Y500 Pro has generated considerable buzz for its design, display, and battery.
Design and Display
The phone features a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Its peak brightness reaches 1600 nits, making the screen clearly visible even in direct sunlight. In terms of design, the phone boasts an attractive and premium look. Its body structure is robust, and it is IP68 and IP69 rated, meaning the phone will be protected from both dust and water.
Performance and Software
The Vivo Y500 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, which is based on a 4nm process. This chipset replaces the previous Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The phone comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. On the software front, it runs on OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, which provides a smooth and responsive experience.
Camera and Battery
For photography, the phone features a 200MP primary camera powered by the Samsung HP5 sensor. It's accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor and a 32MP front camera, which captures clear and detailed shots.
Its biggest highlight is its 7000 mAh Blue Ocean battery, which supports 90 W fast charging. The company claims that the phone maintains its IP68 rating even after prolonged use, even surviving 2000 drops.
Connectivity and other features
The phone features stereo speakers, USB Type-C audio, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and NFC support. It also comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G network support.
