Redmi launched its K90 series just a few days ago, consisting of two models: the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max. But now, it appears that another new phone is about to be added to this series.
Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station has posted that the company may launch the Redmi K90 Ultra next year, and preliminary specifications have also been revealed.
According to DCS, the K90 Ultra will feature a 6.8-inch flat LTPS OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 165 Hz ultra-fast refresh rate. This refresh rate also distinguishes it from the K90 Pro Max, as the Ultra will focus on a smooth user experience and high-resolution gaming. The phone's corners are heavily rounded, giving it a premium flat-screen feel.
Design-wise, Redmi is expected to include a metal frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and full-level water resistance. These features are typically found on the Ultra model, making it the most premium option in the series.
Regarding the processor, the phone is said to be powered by a new MediaTek Dimensity 9 Series chipset—likely the Dimensity 9500+. This chipset is being designed to deliver a different performance level than the K90 and K90 Pro Max, making the Ultra more capable of high-frame gaming, AI processing, and consistent performance.
The battery is reported to have a capacity of over 8000 mAh, which would be the largest battery in the K90 series to date. This battery is significant given the large screen, high frame rates, and new software ecosystem.
Most interesting is Redmi's new Super-Frame software ecosystem, which will be specifically optimized for 165 Hz displays. This will make both gaming and animations feel more responsive and smoother.
Pricing and launch date details are yet to be revealed, but Redmi is expected to introduce the K90 Ultra next year as a premium variant of its K90 series.
