Apple Foldable iPhone—The First Foldable iPhone Is Finally Nearing Reality

Apple Foldable iPhone

Apple's first foldable iPhone, which has been rumored for a long time, finally appears to be nearing launch. A new report has confirmed that Apple has accelerated work on its foldable model.

Most importantly, the company's crease-free foldable display has now been internally finalized, meaning the screen technology is ready, something Android brands have yet to fully address.

According to the latest information, Apple is using Samsung as the exclusive display supplier for this device. The report also states that Foxconn has set up a separate production line for this model, indicating that the project is now in advanced development.

Design and Display

In terms of design, this phone will come in a book-style foldable form. It will feature a 7.74-inch crease-free inner display, while the outer display will feature a 5.49-inch cover screen.

It is expected to be approximately 9–9.5 mm thick when folded and approximately 4.5–4.8 mm when unfolded. These measurements make it a slim and practical foldable form factor.

A dual-camera setup is likely on the back, and Apple may replace Face ID with side-mounted Touch ID this time around. The front cameras will be located in different locations in both modes.

Performance and Battery

The device will be based on Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip (TSMC 2nm process), which will give it an edge in power efficiency and AI processing. Memory options include up to 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

The biggest change is its battery. Reports suggest that the foldable iPhone is being tested with a 5400–5800 mAh battery, which is larger than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Some leaks suggest that the final model could even have a capacity closer to 6000 mAh.

Launch and Price

The launch time is estimated for 2026, according to several reports, but the date may be moved forward depending on the completion of final durability tests of the hinge and battery. The price is expected to be around 2000 USD (likely around Rs 1.70–1.85 lakh in India).

Apple's first foldable iPhone is considered to be one of the company's biggest changes to design, battery, and display technology.
