It's only been a few months since the iPhone 17 series launched, and now the buzz around Apple's next series—the iPhone 18 Pro—has begun. According to recent leaks and tipsters, the iPhone 18 series is expected to arrive in September 2026. Interestingly, Apple isn't making major design changes this time around, but some technical upgrades make it unique—like a smaller Dynamic Island, variable aperture camera, and a 2 nm A20 chip.
Design and Build Quality
Leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro's design will be largely identical to the iPhone 17 Pro—with the same three-camera system and similar screen sizes (6.3-inch Pro and 6.9-inch Pro Max).
However, this time the back panel may feature a slightly transparent glass, making the stainless steel vapor chamber inside appear lighter. This change will give the phone a premium and futuristic look.
The Dynamic Island is also being reduced—it will now be about one-third the size. Apple is reportedly testing "Hole-in-Active-Area" display technology, which could hide the selfie camera in the active area of the screen. This means Face ID could be completely under-display in the future.
Camera Upgrades
The biggest change is in the camera system. According to reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are testing a variable aperture camera, which will adjust from f/1.4 to f/2.0. This feature will provide DSLR-like photography—more light in low light and background blur control in daylight.
The camera setup is expected to include a 48MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto lens.
Performance and Chipset
The iPhone 18 Pro will feature Apple's next-generation 2 nm A20 chip, which is 15% faster and 30% more energy-efficient than the A19. It will also feature Apple's C2 modem, which supports 5G mmWave and Wi-Fi 7.
Apple will use a steel-cased battery for battery life, which will help reduce heating and improve safety.
Color and Price
According to reports, the iPhone 18 Pro may feature new color options like coffee, burgundy, and purple. Its starting price is expected to be $999 (approximately ₹83,000).
Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro may not bring major design changes, but the camera, chip, and transparent back design will take it to the next level.
