Xiaomi entered the foldable smartphone market with its MIX Fold series, which boasts a premium design. However, recently, it has been in the news again due to interesting developments regarding its internal screen ratio.
In fact, the Xiaomi MIX Fold's internal screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio, giving it a tablet-like wide screen. Comparing this ratio to Apple's upcoming first foldable device, it's said to have a 14:10 ratio.
This means both devices offer a tablet-like feel when opened. The only difference is that Apple has kept the aspect ratio slightly longer, which improves screen balance and usability.
Tech experts say that if Xiaomi had folded the MIX Fold's design in a slightly different direction in 2021—as is now being discussed with the "dotted line" design concept—this device might have proven ahead of its time. That folding style would not only have increased the usable area of the screen but would also have made it more practical.
