Redmi Pad 2 Pro Hands-on: New tablet with 12.1-inch display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 12,000mAh battery

Xiaomi introduced several new devices at its big event this week, including the Redmi Pad 2 Pro. We got a chance to use its Matte Glass version, and our initial impressions were quite interesting.

Design-wise, this tablet feels more premium than expected at its 380 euro price. It features an aluminum unibody that feels cool and sturdy in the hand. Weighing around 610 grams, the tablet feels lighter than it should be. Its thickness is only 7.5 mm, making it slim and portable.

Coming to the display section, it features a 12.1-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio and offers a peak brightness of 600 nits.

While this brightness may not be as bright as high-end tablets, the display felt clear and balanced during indoor use. Its matte texture reduces screen reflections, an important feature on a large display.

For sound, the tablet features quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Both volume and quality were good. The top of the device houses the power button and two speakers, the right side houses the volume rocker and microSD slot, and the bottom houses the USB-C port, two speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Accessories include a flip cover, keyboard case, and the Redmi Smart Pen. This stylus supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, which can improve the note-taking and drawing experience.

Speaking of battery, it has a large 12,000 mAh battery, which, along with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, promises long-lasting performance. It also supports 33W fast charging. Initial use found performance to be smooth and responsive.

The tablet currently runs on HyperOS 2 (Android 15 based) and is soon going to get the HyperOS 3 update.
